GREAT FOOD ON A BUDGET

How to Cook Fabulous Food without Breaking the Bank!

7 days - 7dishes - £7

Cassoulet

Does having to cook on a budget mean that we have to stop supporting our favourite local businesses and and head down to the supermarket to fill up the cupboards with their budget ranges? We think not!!

A crafty cook knows how to get the best from a little and during our Credit Crunch Cooking Class we'll look at some of the ways in which we can save money whilst still enjoying some great, local food.

The first thing the economical cook must do is to look beyond prime cuts and get familiar with every part of various animals. Breast of lamb, belly pork, shin of beef, shanks, flanks, hocks and oxtails all make wonderful dishes. And don't be sqeamish about the offal. For many these are the true delicacies from the butchers counter and in some cases they practically give them away.

Then there's pulses, pasta and potatoes. Cheap enough to suit any pocket but incredibly versatile and, with a little imagination, the best way to make a little go a long way.

We'll explore all of these options along with discussions on the best way to shop for seasonal vegetables, fish and meat. On each class we'll make seven dishes, one for each day of the week and each one costing less than £1 per head

One day workshop starting at 9:30 and finishing around 4:00. A late lunch will allow you to taste all of the dishes made as well as some to take away. Included in the price is all food, recipe pack and a glass or two of wine with lunch.
