Cooking Workshops We've
yet to meet a child who didn't love cooking and yet to meet a parent who didn't
love watching their children's delight as they cook. That's why we enjoy running
our Family Bread and Family Pasta Days so much. To
a child cooking is just about the closest thing to magic. You take some simple,
not terribly exciting ingredients, mix them together and, hey presto! you have
ballooning bread or incredibly elastic pasta. This is science with added fun,
artistry with added flavour and not only that but you get lovely and messy and
make something delicious to eat at the end. During
a Family Bread Making Workshop we'll make bloomers and baguettes, pizza's
and plaits and, after lunch, some sticky buns in time for tea. Everything you
make is yours to take away. On
the Family Pasta Day we make hand made, fresh pasta to turn into ravioli,
tortellini, tagliatelle and lasagne. We'll create 5 or 6 dishes with a variety
of sauces and fillings including a ravioli with sweet filling and chocolate sauce
for 'dolci'. As
part of the class, as with all of our workshops, we'll discuss the nutritional
value of food, the benefits of eating locally and in tune with the seasons, and
the need to be in touch with and understand the food we eat. We hope everyone
goes away inspired to eat heathily and in a sustainable way. We also teach basic
kitchen safety regarding knives, ovens, hobs and pans and some basic hygeine. The
day is for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and god-parents to bring along
one or more children. The kids get to do as much of the preparation and cooking
as they like with parents and instructors helping where necessary. No experience
on the part of either adults or children is necessary. Suitable for children aged
8 - 15 Each
course is limited to 8 places to allow for maximum participation. Adults
- £75.00. 1 child £25. Additional children £50 each. Private
Groups can also book a workshop; we'll find a mutually convenient date and
agree a price depending on your requirements.
