Wonderful food, a warm welcome and a beautiful location.

A Day on Dartmoor

[This is one in a series of blog posts written by Charlotte the Intern.  Tune in daily to find out about what she’s been up to, what she has been learning about, and all of the crazy things she does as part of the Manna from Devon team.]

You know how I mentioned a couple of days ago that my boyfriend was coming to visit from Italy?  Well, he’s arrived!  I’m very excited to be showing him around, making him see and taste all of the wonderful things about Devon, but I also had a selfish motive in mind.  You see, I have been wanting to explore Dartmoor since I arrived at the beginning of September, and not having a car has been a significant obstacle.  Andrea’s visit was the perfect excuse.

I didn’t really have any concept of what we should do on the moor, so David sketched out a walk and a couple of other points of interest for us.  Armed with maps and a hopefully unnecessary compass, we embarked on our Dartmoor journey.  It is hard to capture the grandeur of Dartmoor through a camera’s lens, but we did our best!

We stopped for a bit of cider and a view of the sunset. Don’t worry, the driver only had a couple of sips!

We finished off the day with a beer at Rugglestone Inn in Widecombe on the Moor, an adorable little pub with cozy atmosphere.
