Wonderful food, a warm welcome and a beautiful location.

Fishstock 2013 Roundup

[This is one in a series of blog posts written by Charlotte the Intern.  Tune in daily to find out about what she’s been up to, what she has been learning about, and all of the crazy things she does as part of the Manna from Devon team.]

We’ve finally recovered from Fishstock 2013 in Brixham!  The annual event, which benefits the Fishermen’s Mission, was full of good food, great people, live music, and demonstrations ranging from the more straightforward cooking displays to zanier acts of lobster hypnotism.  What a great time!

Fresh loaves of bread, ready to sell.

Manna From Devon was there selling all sorts of sourdoughs, focaccia, and other bread, as well as courgette cake and Holly’s award-winning brownies.  In addition, David was performing acts of culinary wonder on the Ready Steady Cook chef’s stage, including a defeat of highly renowned chef and Brixham-ite Mitch Tonks!  We’ve got some great shots of David cooking, but unfortunately no photos of the finished dishes—the hungry masses gobbled them up before we could get a camera over for a close-up.

All in all, it was a day packed with food, fun, and just the right amount of friendly competition.  We already can’t wait to be back next year.  Thanks, Brixham, for such a good time!

You can check back to the blog later this week for some of the recipes from David’s bouts on stage, and don’t forget to sign up for the free Sourdough Surgery at Manna From Devon.  (Remember: it involves giving away some of our 8 year old sourdough starter.)  You won’t want to miss it!
