Following on from our popular trips to the Alpujarras, we’ve introduced a new trip for 2019 to Seville, Jerez and Sanlucar de Barrameda to explore the amazing world of sherry production and the fabulous food of the area.
We’ve hooked up with our friends Jonathan and Suzie of Michael Sutton’s Cellars and will be taking 2 trips to the area in Spring 2019. Here’s what we’ve got planned –
Dates: 25th-29th March 2019 31st March -4th April 2019
Day 1 After arrival in Malaga (from Exeter on Flybe or Gatwick on Easyjet), we will travel to Sanlucar by minibus at 1230 hours on the 25th March and 1730 hours on the 31st March. After settling into our hotel, we will have dinner together in a local restaurant.
Day 2 After breakfast, we will head to the Barbadillo Bodega for a very special private tour exploring the history of the firm and its sherry production in Sanlucar, wandering through the sherry cathedral, discovering the intricacies of making Manzanilla and looking after the crucial flor. We’ll taste a variety of the sherries and after our tour we’ll head to the coast for lunch in a local seafood restaurant, watching the boats head up the river to Seville.
In the evening, you will be free to head out for drinks or a late supper.
Day 3 We will leave Sanlucar after breakfast and head to Jerez for a private tour of the Tio Pepe bodega. You’ll then have some free time to explore iconic Jerez itself and get some lunch. Later in the afternoon we’ll head to Seville and our hotel for the next 2 nights before an evening meal at a local restaurant.
Day 4 Today we’ll have a gastronomic tour of some of Seville’s historic neighbourhoods. Seville has been home to Romans, Muslims, Jews and Christians—a melting pot of cultures whose lasting legacy is its incredible food. On this daytime food tour, we’ll taste the city’s best bites alongside a local expert. We’ll embrace the rustic, authentic and real, heading off the beaten track and into family-run shops to taste the true flavour of the city, all while getting insider information on the traditions that make Seville so unique. After our tour, you’ll have a couple of hours to explore in the afternoon before a final dinner together.
Day 5 A day to explore Seville on your own – there’s plenty to discover including the Alcazar; the Cathedral; atmospheric Triana, Seville’s colourful old quarter; head to the School of Equestrian Art in Jerez; take a cooking class; visit the Museum of the Spanish Inquisition (bet you weren’t expecting that?!) or just generally have a mooch and spend some time people watching.
Evening departure from Malaga airport back to Exeter or Gatwick, leaving Seville at 1630 hours.

What’s not included –
Flights (we recommend Flybe from Exeter and Easyjet from Gatwick for both trips). We strongly advise against booking your flights before confirmation of your place(s) but to book them as soon as possible once your place(s) on the trip has been confirmed

Pick up and drop off times
Pick up from Malaga airport will be 1230 hours on the 25th March and 1730 hours on the 31st March. We will leave Seville at 1630 hours on the 29th March and the 4th April. These coincide with Flybe flights from Exeter and Easyjet flights from Gatwick.
Please note if you are flying from any other UK airport, flights must coincide with these timings or you can arrange an additional night in Malaga at your own expense to get flights the next day.
The trip will cost £975 per person sharing a double/twin room or £1225 per person in a single room. A non-refundable deposit of £350 per person is required on booking to secure your place. Balance to be paid by the 1st February 2019.
