SWCP Day 8 – Coast Path at its Best
Everything about today was a relief, pleasant weather, easy walking, good company and great mileage. After yesterday I needed a day making good progress without too much stress and thank goodness the South West Coast Path delivered.
At 6:45 Holly hoofed me out of the van at Harlyn beach and I hit the ground running to make a quick circuit of Trevose Head. Time to see the world come to life, hear the coastal birds waking up and see the Trevose Lighthouse at Daybreak.
By midday I’d reached Watergate Bay where I was joined by Ian Larkin for the second half of the day to Perranporth. This should have been very straightforward were it not for the 1hr30 we had to wait for the tide to drop enough for us to wade across the tidal bridge cross the Gannel. I thought it might happen but hoped it might be a bit earlier.
We enjoyed the chance to take a break but it set us back plenty and we arrived into Perranporth at 5:45, well after dark. A long day in hours but good distance of 29 miles taking me past the 200 mile mark to 202 miles.
